Breanna Barrington/Luka
Is a multimedia artist based in Amiskwaciy Wâskahikan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta (2013-2018)
Having exhibited everywhere from Norway to her Mother’s broom closet, Breanna is quite familiar with the many ways in which two nails and a painting can keep things in touch with a vertical surface. On cloudy days she wanders around the city with a magnifying glass and a curious eye; in search of objects that tell a story about the relationship that modern humans have with the natural world.

The collection of artworks currently displayed at River City Revival (2014-2017) are the fruit of many years of thrift store explorations; the visual culmination of an obsession with vintage film stills, repurposed slide projections, the art historical canon, and of course Girl Guides. Many of these paintings were created within the space of a life-sized diorama which was refreshed every 4 months over the course of 3 years.
