Advanced, elegant, and yet refreshing, “A Valediction” sums up past endeavors effortlessly as it gazes with purpose and conviction into the future. OBSCURA are fan-renowned and critically acclaimed for challenging and then expanding upon norms. From “Cosmogenesis” (2009) through “Diluvium” (2018), the band flourished and made significant progress in a musical genre unprepared for a creative shot of German invention. “A Valediction” spearheads OBSCURA into a new era of extreme metal.

SESSIONS’ FEATURES

SESSIONS’ CONCERTS

The Starlite Room was shutdown on March 13, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Real McKenzies sound check complete, the band ready to rip, we launched Sessions’s Concerts that very night! We continued to produce concerts through out the pandemic which you can view right here!:

LOST & FOUND FOOTAGE

Live concerts filmed* prior to March 13th, 2020 within our iconic building & other legendary venues throughout Edmonton submitted by fans just like you!

*With one exception! One particular show we only have photographs of.

SPOTLITE SESSIONS

A spotlight on some of our favourite artists! Most Interviews that took place over the course of the pandemic have been conducted over zoom, in person interviews began after restrictions were lifted.

DOCUMENTARIES

We use the term “documentaries” loosely. The following is a collection of documentaries, short films, radio interviews, articles & more, all with one common denominator… each “documentary” showcases the people, places & things that have contributed to the music, art & culture of Edmonton, Alberta and Canada.

FUNK WORK JAM

This funkalicious event happened every Sunday at River City Revival House, when Covid-19 hit, Revival had to closed & unfortunately postpone our weekly jam. Lucky enough our hosts, Paul Steffes & Blair Wilkie filmed these RED HOT JAMS!

VINYL UNVEIL

Tune into the CUPS N CAKES VINYL UNVEIL & see some of the best Canadian records get unwrapped & discussed!

IT’S 5 O’CLOCK HERE!

A technically correct answer to “It’s five o’clock somewhere…”, Chad & Samara (of The Black Dog Freehouse) drops a new cocktail recipe, using only ingredients they have on hand, once in awhile when: It’s Five O’Clock Here!

HOMETOWN HUSTLE

Is a conversation series with an accompanying podcast that charts ARJUN ROY’s artistic journey through the Peace Country art & music scene circa year-2000 onwards. He believes in the importance of interconnectedness and collaboration, and thus is fascinated by art and music scenes and how they provide a space for budding artists to cut their teeth, stretch out and find themselves. Arjun found exactly that upon moving to Grande Prairie in Autumn of 2000.
